VERKEYA SPEAKS SCHOLARSHIPS are awarded to New York City High School Seniors identifying as young women of color, in honor of the dynamic women listed below.
(Charter, Parochial, or Public)

MS. SANDRA LOYD-BLACKMAN

Ms. Sandra Loyd-Blackman served New York City as an educator for over 30 years.  A young woman of color who has excelled in English or The Arts throughout high school and intends to be enrolled in an institution of higher education full-time as a performing arts, fine arts, or English major will be awarded the Verkeya Speaks Scholarship in her honor.

MS. MESHA DAVIS

Ms. Mesha Davis is a two-time cancer survivor and an esteemed Iron Worker. A young woman of color who is a high school senior and intends to enroll in a vocational/trade school will be awarded the Verkeya Speaks Scholarship in her honor.

LT. COLONEL JACKSON

Lt. Colonel Veronica Jackson overcame personal and academic obstacles to become an R.N., Nurse Administrator, and a retired officer in the United States Air Force Reserves.  A young woman of color that has overcome personal and/or academic hardship and will be enrolled in an institution of higher education within the next two (2) academic semesters will be awarded the Verkeya Speaks Scholarship in her honor.
